VEGGIE TIKKI CHAAT

The worth of food in India is beyond a mere survival necessity. It holds the fort of sentiments, culture, heritage and innovation. The most excited food of the day is snack-time . Sometimes we even replace a whole meal for a delicious snack.As, we all know 80% of our health condition depends on food, so choosing the right snack may become tricky. Rather, preparing your favorite snack in a healthier way is the smartest option. From childhood I had this immense love for aloo tikki chaat but eventually high calories make me stop from having it. So, I found this wonderful way to give it a little twist by adding vegetables. This veggie tikki chat is an unique combination of vegetables and Indian spices with minimal requirement of oil to make your evening blissful.


Preparation time: 10 mins Cooking time: 15 mins


INGREDIENTS:

For tikki:

  • 1 boiled potato (medium sized)

  • 1/2 cup grated beet root

  • 1/2 cup grated carrot

  • 1 green chilli, finely chopped

  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped

  • 1 tbs. corn starch

  • 2 tsp. roasted cumin powder

  • 2 tsp. garam masala

  • salt to taste

  • olive oil (or any other cooking oil)

For gravy:

  • 1 cup curd

  • 1/3rd cup onion,finely chopped

  • 1/3rd cup tomatoes, finely chopped

  • 1 green chilli, finely chopped

  • Salt to taste

  • oil

For seasoning and garnishing:

  • Finely chopped onion

  • Finely chopped coriander leaves

  • Pomegranate seeds

  • Sev

  • Chat masala

  • Roasted jeera powder

  • Roasted red chilli powder

  • Black salt


PROCEDURE:

  • Mash the potato. Add grated veggies,onion,green chillies.Mix.

  • Add corn starch, masala and salt.

  • Make small balls and then press it to form flat tikkis.

  • Heat tawa. Grease with oil and place the tikkis.

  • Cook each side on low flame until gets brown.

  • While the tikkis are getting ready, heat another pan and add oil to it.

  • Add chopped onion,tomatoes, green chillies to hot oil, saute for 3-4 mins.

  • Switch off the flame, add curd,salt and mix.

How to serve:

  • Place tikki to a plate.

  • Pour some curd mixture on it.

  • Add onion,coriander leaves and pomegranate seeds to it.

  • Sprinkle some black salt, chaat masala, roasted cumin and red chilli powder.

  • Top it with some sev and serve while hot.
